Here is a hand painted kitchen in Hale, Cheshire.

This was a medium oak kitchen and had dated.

It is of solid build and of good quality, but my clients knew they could get more out of it.

So long as the kitchen painting is spot on and perfect, the change can be significant.

That’s where I come in.

With years of experience in painting kitchens, they can exceed the expectations of the most discerning clients.

My clients wanted to see the oak grain showing through. I assured them they would see it perfectly as if the paint follows the pattern on each coat.

I don’t load lots of paint on the surface, but layer thinner layers, building up to the perfect finish. As the  top coat is an acrylic enamel, it does not allow for this to happen as it “stretches out” in the drying stages. So, one has to ensure a nice even coat of the primer.

In this case the primer I used was Otex high adhesion primer from Tikkurila. it’s the oil based one. this compliments the acrylic enamel system perfectly.

Once the primer is on and dry, it gets rubbed down. A 240 grit paper is used with a scotch pad for fine surfaces. The pad lets me get into the inner profiles and all sorts of nooks and crannies. This ensures that all items are super smooth for the coat build up. One has to have the surface super smooth to the touch, let alone on a visual level.

My client chose “Lead Grey” which was a Dulux Heritage colour. I had an equivalent colour to this made. It was Tikkurila Everal Aqua10. I use this on most of my kitchens and furniture as nit is very tough when it cures. It also paints beautifully and flows well.

By extra diligence and knowledge of application techniques, a perfect finish can be achieved.

This hand painted kitchen, Hale looks just as good as it does in the photos, but nothing ever is better than the real thing.
