How I Achieved a Perfect Hand-Painted Kitchen for a Client in Sale, Manchester
Transforming a kitchen into a beautifully hand-painted masterpiece is a rewarding endeavor. Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a client’s kitchen in Sale, Manchester. They wanted a traditional, elegant look, so we decided to use Tikkurilla Otex high adhesion primer for the base and a traditional eggshell finish for the top coats. The chosen colors were Gardenia for the main units and Tea with Florence for the island. Here’s a detailed account of how I achieved this stunning transformation.
The first and most crucial step in achieving a flawless hand-painted kitchen is thorough preparation. I began by degreasing all the kitchen units. Kitchens, especially those that are used frequently, tend to accumulate grease and grime, which can interfere with paint adhesion. I used a strong degreasing solution, ensuring every surface was spotless.
After degreasing, I lightly sanded all the surfaces to ensure the primer would adhere properly. This step is essential for creating a smooth, even base.
Priming with Tikkurilla Otex High Adhesion Primer:
With the kitchen units prepped, it was time to apply the primer. Tikkurilla Otex high adhesion primer is known for its excellent adherence to a variety of surfaces, making it the perfect choice for this project.
: I used Purdy Sprig Elite brushes to apply the primer. These high-quality brushes ensured even coverage. The primer went on smoothly and dried to a hard finish, providing an ideal base for the top coats.
Painting with Traditional Eggshell Finish.
For the top coats, I chose a traditional eggshell finish. This type of paint offers a soft sheen and is highly durable, making it perfect for kitchen cabinets.
: The main units were painted in Gardenia, a soft, creamy white that adds a touch of elegance and brightness to the kitchen. For the island, we opted for Tea with Florence, a beautiful, calming shade of green that creates a stunning focal point.
Using Purdy Sprig Elite brushes, I applied two coats of the eggshell finish. The first coat covered the primer perfectly, and after allowing it to dry thoroughly, I applied the second coat. The end result was a smooth, flawless finish that looks professionally done.
Once the paint was completely dry, I reassembled the kitchen units and added new hardware to complement the fresh look. The transformation was incredible. The Gardenia units brought a light and airy feel to the kitchen, while the Tea with Florence island added a pop of color that ties the whole room together.
Achieving a perfect hand-painted kitchen for my client in Sale, Manchester, was a rewarding experience. The combination of Tikkurilla Otex high adhesion primer and a traditional eggshell finish resulted in a stunning, durable finish. Whether you’re considering a similar project or just looking for inspiration, I hope my journey helps you achieve your dream kitchen.
By following these steps, you can achieve a perfect hand-painted kitchen that enhances the beauty and functionality of your home. Happy painting!
