This kitchen was in need of a re paint due to the top coat peeling off in certain areas.
My client did not know what the problem was, or why it was deteriorating only after two years after it was painted.
It was top coated in Farrow and Ball Estate Eggshell, but that product is normally robust enough for kitchens. I ascertained that it was a primer problem where the top coat eas not adhering to the primer or what was supposed to pass as such.
In order for this not to happen again I sanded down all the surfaces to the wood and MDF.
I then primed the tulipwood and MDF with Tikkurila Otex High Adhesion primer. This is oil based and really sticks to anything and blocks tannins coming through. It guarantees that any project will not fail and that’s why its my go to primer no matter what. It is also tinted to the top coats. I can also use any paint product over this with no problem.
In this case I used Caparol PU Satin mixed to New White. I like this paint as it is an enamel, hard wearing flexible and gives a nice eggshell like finish.
